Our Teachers
Our incredible teaching team is what sets the Yoga Loft apart.
Our team is made up of qualified professionals with diverse backgrounds, including health professionals, body workers, professional dancers, Pilates teachers, Physiotherapists and mental health specialists. Each instructor has a unique approach in style, form and philosophy.
Trisha Dunn
Trisha’s yoga journey began primarily as a physical practice to support her training as a professional contemporary dancer. Through 15 years of at times gruelling performances yoga helped maintain the strength and flexibility required and gave her tools to help with nerves. As her love for yoga grew, she gained 400-hour Yoga Alliance certification from Yoga Arts and Byron Yoga and studied Iyenger at the Omkarananda Ganga Sadan in Rishikesh, India. Trisha is also a Pilates teacher recently gaining a Diploma in Studio and Rehabilitation method.
Trisha’s classes feed on her diverse training over two decades and a love for dynamic motion. Trisha has a genuine desire to facilitate flow, to help students connect body, breath and mind to ease the burdens of our ever thinking, processing and judging mind, and to find joy in our connection to each other. Trisha believes that in developing strength, balance, determination, self-acceptance and calm on the mat, these qualities can then bleed into our everyday experience and help us to live well amongst the chaos of modern life.
David Lees
David's interest in yoga emerged from his professional background in mental health care. He completed Vinyasa Yoga teacher training with Les Leventhal in 2015, and has been further inspired by practicing and learning with amazing teachers and students in diverse traditions including Ashtanga, Power, Forrest, and Yin Yoga.
David’s classes combine ancient principles and contemporary interpretations of yoga with the intrinsic wisdom of each student.
Look forward to a playful and challenging practice that helps build foundations of awareness and strength, opens the heart space, and softens the whole being into a state where potential is recognised and nourished.
Ash Wilson
For Ash, yoga is a safe place to learn, grow and dive into all aspects of herself. Ash’s personal journey of yoga began over 8 years ago and involves letting the practice evolve into whatever it needs to be for her at the time, reflecting the constancy of growth and change.
In 2017 Ash completed Power Living’s 200-hr vinyasa teacher training and in 2019 completed a 50-hr yin consciousness training with Mark Pheely of West Side Yoga. Ash also works full time as registered nurse in the emergency department, loves pottering in the vegie patch and cooking.
Ash has a deep interest for the contraries and parallels of Eastern and Western philosophy and often draws on this in her teaching. Ash’s classes explore her passion for how yoga can provide a safe space for people to discover their self and their own yoga, encouraging students to practice from a place of feeling rather than thinking.
Gabe Comerford
As a dancer and yoga teacher, Gabe believes in the power of movement & yoga as a tool for change; physically, mentally and emotionally. He is passionate about the healing and subtle powers of yoga and draws on over 10 years of movement research and teaching experience.
Gabe completed his yoga teacher training through Core Yoga Studios and honors the lineage of information of which he is now a part of. This lineage stems from the teachings of T. Krishnamacharya, Swami Sivananda and Satyananda.
Gabe’s classes have a deep grounding in anatomical alignment, traditional yoga principles and contemporary yoga philosophy. All of Gabe’s teaching incorporates a sense of enquiry, play, individuality and research, bound together by the underlying principle “Teach what is appropriate for an individual” as quoted by T Krishnamacharya. Gabe aims to guide people to have the confidence to create their own yoga practice, to take responsibility for their physical and mental health, and to continually investigate and question.
Ruth Murphy
Ruth was introduced to yoga at a young age but was far more interested in running and didn’t think much of yoga until years later! Once re-discovered, the practice became an integral part of her life as a way to find strength, peace and balance. Curious about energetic practices she became an Usui Reiki practitioner and continued on to complete yoga training with Cat Kabira, Kari Jacobson (Forrest Yoga), Emil Wendel (yoga philosophy), and Acacia Jade (Fly High aerial yoga).
Ruth’s classes are fun, creative and accessible encouraging you to be fully present in body and breath. With the aim of not taking herself or life too seriously, no matter how intense the class may get, Ruth’s light-hearted and gentle approach encourages her students to invite joy and exploration into their practice.
Currently studying a Graduate Certificate in Yoga Therapy, this teaching direction was brought about through recovering from a motor accident. This experience inspires her to help others cope with physical injuries, mental and emotional struggles, or just find clarity, connection and grounding after a hectic day. Ruth believes that yoga is truly for everyone and everybody.
Rolfe
De La Motte
Rolfe had thought to try yoga for years but finally took the plunge in early 2018 and was soon frequenting the Yoga Loft most days and absolutely loving it! The idea of raising the quality of vital/pranic energies, with a view toward raising consciousness, was the main drawcard.
In 2019 Rolfe undertook a 200hr holistic teacher training with Pyramid Yogshala in India and undertook further teacher training in Yin Yoga with Mel McLaughlin in Hobart in 2021.
Rolfe remains a regular on the mat at Yoga Loft and enjoys exploring breathwork and meditation in his practice. Rolfe believes that a regular yoga practice will greatly benefit anyone, on many levels, regardless of ability or motive.
Caitlin Comerford
Caitlin has been a professional dancer and movement facilitator for over 10 years. The influence of dance in Caitlin’s life, coupled with her yoga practice, leads her to believe strongly in the power of the body to effect and change both mental and emotional states. On and off the mat, Caitlin aims to create authentic opportunities to build awareness, listen and connect.
As a yoga teacher Caitlin strives to empower people to listen more deeply to their own bodies in order to develop a strong sense of self and a deeper level of physical and mental awareness. Her classes focus on anatomy and alignment and combine the level of detail that comes from a Hatha practice with the fluidity and mobility that comes from Vinyasa. Caitlin plans her classes around a key asana, energy or intention responding to the unique physical attributes of students and the collective energy in the room.
Eric Hutchinson
Eric’s deep dive into yoga came after a back injury which saw him explore the Iyengar method as a path toward healing. This led to multiple trips to India and a 500 hour certification through Kashmir Shaivism School of Yoga.
As his teaching journey evolved in his local farming community, he saw the practical benefits of yoga in the everyday lives of his students – from being able to swing their leg over a motorbike to coping with the mental stress of drought and climate change.
With a background in anthropology and a new endeavour into sports science, Eric’s deep passion for humans and movement continues to expand. Incorporating strength training, natural movement and myofascial mobilisation. Eric brings a fun, functional and therapeutic approach to yoga, challenging students to bring their practice off the mat and into their daily lives.
Eric believes that when we can move efficiently, confidently and pain-free we unlock our potential as human beings and enhance our ability to connect with ourselves, others and the natural world.
Kath Hinde
Kath came to yoga in a search to find some work life balance in her career in health management. Yoga became an integral part of her life.
Kath has practiced and studied with a wide range of amazing students and teachers, starting her teaching journey with a 200hr teacher training in 2014 with Purna Yoga at Byron Yoga Centre.
Kath appreciates how, in the busyness of life, yoga can allow us to come home into our skin, to be completely present as we witness and unite mind, body, breath and spirit. Kath's love and gratitude for yoga shines through when she teaches. With her focus on providing a safe and supportive space, Kath’s classes aim to help students improve their flexibility, strength, and balance, while inspiring genuine peace and happiness. Kath’s wish as a teacher is that the practice might help students find their smile, as it has for her.
Sofía Quintero
Sofía is a gifted and passionate yoga teacher who has dedicated her last 12 years studying and improving her practice through various different methods and philosophies. ANNIE BURNS
Taking a slightly longer way around to becoming a teacher, Annie’s background as a Remedial Massage Therapist and attending classes for herself was brought full circle during the 2020 Covid lockdown.
Using that time to complete her first Instructor Training in Barre, Annie quickly became hooked on Movement Coaching and has gone on to complete several other Instructor Trainings including her 200hr YTT, Restorative, Yin, Inside Flow and Reformer.
(And there is always another course on the go!)
She is passionate about creating a fun and comfortable space for people to discover just what their body is capable of and loves to see people surprise themselves by being brave and trying something new.
Creativity and flow are the basis of all of Annie’s classes, alongside the aim of having every student feel amazing as they walk out of her class, and an emphasis on exploring how our bodies are able to move without fear of comparison.
KATH GANNON
Kath is a classical Pilates teacher (and self described total Pilates nerd) with a Diploma in matwork, studio, and all small apparatus.
Kath’s teaching style is to pay specific and careful attention to the body we show up with on any given day, so that clients can find safe and functional movement. Her classes are informative, intentional, and light, always managing to crack a smile on people’s faces, even as we finish the final reps.
Family life, teaching, and ongoing movement education keeps Kath happy & busy!
EILEEN OOI
After years of searching for what felt ‘right’, the discovery of Pilates and Barre in 2020 changed everything for Eileen.
In 2021, Eileen finally took the leap and enrolled in a Barre Body teacher training. Juggling training and other life commitments, her journey as an instructor officially started a year later. Despite being somewhat new to the world of movement instruction, Eileen is full of compassion and believes strongly that everyone is capable of continuing to grow and move with proper guidance.
Eileen acknowledges that she is still discovering who she is in her classes (aren’t we all!) but dad jokes as a little distraction can never go wrong!
Erin McCabe
Erin is a passionate student and teacher of yoga and Pilates, and has been eagerly exploring and investigating the ancient practices of yoga for nearly 15 years.
Going beyond the poses and exploring the true depth of what yoga can do for mental health and the nervous system is what lights Erin up. Her classes and workshops will include elements of pranayama, bandha, mudra and mindfulness, alongside a physically creative and informed practice.
Since September 2023, Erin has been the owner operator of the Loft, and can’t think of a more beautiful way to spend her days.
